1. Position Title: Research Fellow in Occupational and Environmental Medicine

Principal Investigator/Supervisor: Stefanos N. Kales, MD, MPH Assistant Professor, Harvard medical School, Harvard School of Public Health

Co-Investigator/Senior Mentor: David C, Christiani, MD, MPH, MS Professor, Harvard medical School, Harvard School of Public Health

Summary: The primary project involves an NIOSH-funded, longitudinal study of the health status of a cohort of firefighters and the role of medical examinations. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated MD or Ph.D. seeking academic experience in clinical and epidemiological research prior to seeking further clinical or post-doctoral training. Duties will include data analysis, interpretation and participation in manuscript preparation. Good computing and writing skills are a must and some knowledge of statistics is desirable.

2. Position Title: Research Assistant in Occupational and Environmental Medicine

Co-Investigator/Senior Mentor: David C, Christiani, MD, MPH, MS Professor, Harvard medical School, Harvard School of Public Health

The successful candidates will be highly motivated medical, premedical/pre-health professions students seeking experience in clinical research. Duties will include data entry and data analysis, and literature searches. Some participation in manuscript preparation may also be possible. Good computing and writing skills are a must and some knowledge of statistics is desirable. Full and half-time positions may be available.

Past participants in the program who applied to medical school were successful in matriculating and currently attend McGill, Stanford and Boston University Medical Schools.
