  • [01] Greece Confirms Two More H1N1 Cases

    Two more H1N1 cases were detected Wednesday in Greece, raising the total number of the people who have been tested positive to the dangerous virus to 25. 11 of them have been fully cured. The new cases are a 24-year-old woman who came from the USA and a 9-year-old child that came from Australia. The Health Ministry said things are under control, underlining that the disease's symptoms are mild.

    Deaths Rise Worldwide

    The total number of H1N1 cases has amounted to 37,214 in 78 countries.

    Canada confirmed two more H1N1-related deaths in Quebec, raising the death toll in the country to nine. Authorities said that 4,049 cases have been confirmed in the country.

    In the USA, a toddler from Florida died of the swine flu, increasing the death toll in the country to 47.

    Sri Lanka confirmed the first H1N1 case and Qatar the third. Swine flu cases have also been reported in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrein.

    In the meantime, drug companies are racing against time to create the vaccine, with American Baxter claiming that it will be ready within July.
