Results can also be found on state television ERT website - www.ert.grIn the meantime thousands of university students seem certain to lose yet another examination period next month due to an ongoing strike by university teaching staff , who are demanding higher pay and better retirement deals. Following a meeting with Prime-minister Simitis yesterday, Education Minister, Petros Efthimiou appealed to the academic personnel to return to work , noting that 4 out of 5 demands had been met and promising that salaries would be reviewed in 2 years.. Developments in the sector of education will be discussed at a cabinet meeting today while the President of the N.D party, Kostas Karamanlis will meet with university deans today (28/8/2002 12:15:00 μμ) [03] Government s efforts to contain inflationary pressuresIn a bid to contain inflation , Development undersecretary will begin contacts with businessmen today , to make gentlemen s agreements to curb price rises. The Greek European Commissioner , Anna Diamantopoulou said keeping a lid on rising inflation was a major government priority , pointing out that the country s huge foreign debt did not allow for deviations from a strict incomes policy.In the meantime , the President of the Greek industrialists association , Odysseas Kyriakopoulos , claimed yesterday that manufacturers were not responsible for inflationary pressures , attributing the soaring prices to the market and to increases in public utility rates. N.D deputy , Giorgos Alogoskoufis attributed inflation, unemployment and lack of competion to ineffective materialisation of the economic policy and lack of planning. In an interview with state radio NET, the President of the General Confederation of Greek Labor , Hristos Polyzogopoulos said that he would ask the Prime-minister to consider a possible deviation due to inflation when working out next year s budget. In the meantime Prime-minister Simitis today chairs a meeting of the government s economic staff to reach final decisions on tax reliefs to be announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair. (28/8/2002 12:16:00 μμ) [04] Prime-minister Simitis calls for strict adherence to Olympic Games budget and timetablesDuring a meeting yesterday with the bi-ministerial committee for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games , Prime-minister , Kostas Simitis called for strict adherence to the Olympic budget and to the timetables for completion of the projects . The progress of preparartions was also discussed at the meeting as well as wide –ranging legislation to be enacted , to facilitate the execution of works related to the games.The President of the Athens 2004 organising committee , Yianna Aggelopoulou is scheduled to visit Lausanne next month , to brief the International Olympic Committee on the progress to date. A manuscript found in the Patmos November 17 hide out contains names of politicians , possible targets of the urban guerilla groupIn the meantime according to recent statements by a witness, Alexandros Giotopoulos was in Pireus the day when the bomb blew up in the hands of Savvas Xiros .
