[01] President Clerides does not discuss Mr Denktash/ s position on a new
high level agreement
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Glafcos Clerides, said that he
did not wish to discuss Mr Denktash/ s position regarding a new high-level
agreement.
President Clerides, who was talking to the press after a meeting of the
Council of Ministers, which took place yesterday at the Presidential
residence in Troodos, pointed out that no meeting between himself and the
Turkish Cypriot leader Mr Denktash had as yet been arranged, adding that Mr
Denktash would have a meeting with the UN Secretary General Mr Kofi Annan
on August 28.
Mr Alvaro de Soto, UN Secretary General/ s envoy for Cyprus, is due to
visit Cyprus on August 29, President Clerides added.
