Greek Parliament Speaker in Cyprus for official visit

Larnaca, Jun 24 (CNA) -- Greek Parliament Speaker Anna Psarouda-Benaki has stressed that Greece was standing by the people of Cyprus who were going through a critical period of time.

Benaki was speaking at Larnaca Airport on her arrival for a three-day official visit at the invitation of House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias, who met her at the airport.

Cypriot Labour Minister presents survey on foreign workers

Nicosia, Jun 24 (CNA) -- The number of foreign workers in Cyprus for the next three years is expected to correspond to nearly 13 per cent of the total increase in employment, according to a survey conducted by the Authority for the Development of Human Resources on the employment of foreign workers in Cyprus for the period of 2004-7.

The conclusions of the survey were presented today by Labour and Social Insurance Minister Christos Taliadoros, who said that the number of foreign workers between 2004-2007 would depend on the rise or drop of total employment and on lower rates of increase in employment.

Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Jun 24 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Friday and Saturday: 25/6/2004 to 26/6/2004 -------------------- Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected on Friday afternoon. On Saturday the weather will be mainly fine but over the mountains there is a risk of isolated showers. Winds will be variable light 2 to 3 BF during night and early morning and moderate seabreezes 4BF in the afternoon. The state of sea will be slight to moderate.

On Friday the temperature will range between 32 to 19 C inland, 29 to 20 over south coast, 27 to 19 C over west coast and 23 to 12 C over the mountains.

On Saturday the temperature will increase by 1 to 2 C.

Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 27/6/2004 to 28/6/2004 ----------------------- Mainly fine weather. Temperatures will increase.
