    Voronin hopes Cyprus will support Moldova to obtain same EU results

    Nicosia, Nov 11 (CNA) -- Moldova's President Vladimir Voronin has expressed the hope that Cyprus, ''which has already crossed the path to European Union, will support us in our efforts to obtain the same results.''

    In his toast at a state banquet hosted for him here last night by Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos, Voronin expressed confidence his visit to Cyprus will contribute to the identification of new and efficient ways to enhance the cooperation between Moldova and Cyprus on mutually advantageous basis.

    Expressing his gratitude to his Cypriot counterpart for the invitation to visit the island, Moldova's President said that despite the considerable distance that divides our countries, ''there is a surprising amount of things we have in common.''

    Nicosia, Nov 11 (CNA) -- In an effort to boost its research capabilities, Cyprus is seeking cooperation with India and France in setting up technology parks, while discussing plans by Harvard University to establish a regional research centre on the island.

    In an interview with CNA, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Giorgos Lillikas announced that in January a meeting will take place here between the government of Cyprus and Indian firms, in order to explore the possibility of creating an Information Technology (IT) Park.

    At the same time, France has expressed interest in building in Cyprus a technology park of a more general nature, modelled on the Sofia Antipolis park in Nice, that would carry out research in microbiology, biotechnology, nanotechnology and biomedicine.

    Towards the end of November, a delegation from the Chamber of Nice that runs the Sofia Antipolis Technology Park will visit Cyprus to discuss the issue.

    Larnaca, Nov 11 (CNA) - Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos said today that the government insists on the implementation of the European Court of Human Rights decision in the Titina Loizidou case.

    President Papadopoulos replied negatively to a question whether there was anything new regarding tomorrow's expiration of the fortnight deadline given to Turkey by the Council of Europe to comply with the decision in the Loizidou case.
