Cippus, coins and unique marbles unearthed at Amathus excavations

Nicosia, Nov 12 (CNA) -- An intact dedicatory cippus with an inscription referring to emperor Tiberius, rich pottery finds, Roman, Byzantine and Hellenic coins, architectural fragments, vessels lamps and terracotas were among the significant revelations of the excavations at the lower city of Amathus, on Cyprus' southern coast.

Seminar on copyright and content protection in EU

Nicosia, Nov 12 (CNA) -- The Cyprus News Agency (CNA) and the British Council are jointly organising a seminar for the news media and the media organisations of Cyprus on Copyright in the European Union, the latest EU Directive on copyright and content protection, and its impact on the media in Cyprus.

The seminar will be held at the International Conference Centre in Nicosia, on November 24, 2003, from 09.00 to 13.30.

Nicosia, Nov 12 (CNA) The final decision concerning accession negotiations with Turkey depends fully on the European Union, on Turkeys compliance with the Copenhagen criteria and with calls to contribute to a solution of the Cyprus problem, said here Wednesday government spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides.

EU and Turkey explore ways to solve Cyprus problem

Rome, Nov 12 (CNA) - Ways to resolve the Cyprus question were explored during a meeting between the EU Troika, led by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini, and a Turkish delegation under Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Gul, setting May next year as a possible deadline.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, noted that ties between the EU and Turkey are increasingly solid and important but that the question of Cyprus remains a serious obstacle to Turkey's future entry into the bloc, according to an ANSA report.
