    Nicosia, Mar 27 (CNA) -- Yiannis Skordis is the new mayor of the Turkish-occupied town of Famagusta. No other candidacies for the post, which became vacant after former mayor was appointed to the Cabinet, were submitted by today's noon deadline.

    He will be formally declared mayor at a ceremony tomorrow afternoon, at Famagusta Cultural Centre, on the southeast coast, near the occupied town.
