NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - President in the B-H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS), Momcilo Krajisnik, warns that the "Equip and Train" programme raises serious concerns over the reasons why RS was not included in the programme together with Muslim and Croat armies. Following his talks with Charles Boyd, deputy president of the US Congress and US defence secretary's envoy Gardner Packam, Krajisnik reminded that, when asked the same question, Mr Parlmey, whom the US administration charged of this issue, said that RS needed to meet certain conditions.

BIJELJINA - RS prime minister, Gojko Klickovic and Serb businessman from Chicago, Slobodan Pavlovic, signed in the Semberija village of Popovi an agreement on development of Slobomir, a new city on the Drina. Prime minister Klickovic expressed RS Government's readiness to offer any assistance and support for these projects which demonstrate that the future and prosperity lay in the private capital. While thanking to the RS Government for understanding and support, Slobodan Pavlovic pointed out that a lot of willingness and strength is required to complete this project.

ROME - While commenting the decision of 16 NATO countries on new obligations and rights of SFOR in RS and the B-H Federation, Radio "Rome - Open City" and "Manifesto" newspaper wonder whether NATO is changing the Dayton agreement and introducing its own rules. Media remind that according to the decision, SFOR can use force against local media.

ROME - ANSA reports OSCE will sent in the RS and B-H Federation additional 250 observes from the direction for Democracy and Human Rights. By their arrival on September 10, a total number of 2,450 observers will be deployed by the Direction to monitor the local elections.

PRNJAVOR - The Municipal Board of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) for Prnjavor is convinced in a new electoral triumph and is participating at the elections under a credo "For united Serbs and single RS" - this is their message from the preelection rally held in Prnjavor. The Board president Momcilo Novakovic stated in front of over 3,000 assembled citizens that the best Party's card is its list of candidates where are named all wellknown soldiers, economists and other prominent residents".

PRNJAVOR - The deputy in the House of Representatives of the B-H Parliamentarian Assembly, Dragan Djuric, accused in Prnjavor RS president Biljana Plavsic and her assistants of, as he sad "openly destroying Serb unity". Djuric underlined that in recent times the SDS leaders from Prnjavor have been subjected to a constant pressure to join the "option of Biljana Plavsic".

ROGATICA - The political-security situation in Rogatica area is generally satisfactory, even burdened with events in other parts of RS, concluded Rogatica officials at their meeting, presided over by the Rogatica SDS Municipal Board president Miodrag Jankovic. They reviewed a report from the last SDS Main Board session, and discussed ways of overcoming the present crisis in RS.

SAMAC - The Socialist Party (SP) for RS is ready to enter coalition with any other Serb party at the municipal elections, in places where a real risk exists that Muslim voters could outvote Serb voters. The SP for RS vice-president Dragutin Ilic stated in Samac at a rally that the municipal elections must take place, and that the RS National Assembly and Government cannot postpone them because they were scheduled by the international community.

TREBINJE - At the round table "The Role of the Local Authorities", held in the organisation of the OSCE Field Office in Trebinje, the representatives of the parties to participate at the elections aired their political programmes. Other than discussing the role of the local authorities add the importance it attaches the political and economic life of a municipality, they considered the present political situation in RS.
