APR. 9, 1998 EVENING

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Government of Republika Srpska /RS/ Milorad Dodik talked in Banja Luka with the director of the local mission from Strasbourg Charles Derpeau about the programme of economic aid of EU to Banja Luka and its surroundings, amounting 3,3 million DEM. "The RS Government thanked to provided assistance and announced full support to such and similar projects" - is said in the announcement from the Cabinet of president of Government of RS forwarded to SRNA.

PRIJEDOR - The president of municipal assembly /SO/ of Prijedor Borislav Maric said that he made a telephone conversation with responsible authorities in Hague Tribunal, where it was stated to him that Miroslav Kvocka and Mladen Radic feel good and that, perhaps, they will be enabled establishing the telephone contact with families. The head of the Centre of public security Prijedor Marko Djenadija confirmed that "Radic was arrested in the street of Alexander Karadjordjevic No. 35, while he was getting out of the car. "He was surrounded with around 15 members of SFOR, who pushed him in the jeep of international forces and transported in unknown direction" - explained Djenadija and added that in the same way was arrested also Kvocka, in the street of Milos Obilic.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Serbian Patriotic Party /SPAS/ Slavko Zupljanin sent unusually vigorous critics to the Government of RS which, according to his opinion, in the first 80 days of government did not fulfil neither the minimum of expected. At the vigorously intoned press conference in Banja Luka Zupljanin said that 18,500 fighters who died for RS is the price nobody dare play with, warning that the state affairs must not be subjected to the party pre-electoral promotion. Zupljanin thinks that in Serbian Radio-TV is in force the censorship, and announced that SPAS, as he said, will fight against such appearances by all legitimate means.

BELGRADE - The president of Serbian Radical Party Vojislav Seselj warned at the press conference in Belgrade that the situation on Kosovo is being complicated exclusively because of the policy of the Western powers. "The protests of the Serbian Albanians in Pristina obviously are organised by well equipped and trained Western instructors", said Seselj. He stressed that the objective of the West is "provoking nervousness of the Serbian authorities and heating anti-Serbian policy in western media" and added that "the protests in Pristina, actually, are the protests for CNN".

PRISTINA - The deputy of the head of Kosovo County Veljko Odalovic pointed out in Pristina to the Belgian Ambassador in Belgrade Noris Couvrer that international community would condition, with their unambiguous condemnation of terrorism in Kosovo and Metohija, the contacts with the leaders of the Albanian parties. Odalovic stressed that these conditions would be extended also on the demands to the leaders of Albanian Parties to gave up the idea of independence of Kosovo and accept the invitations for talks with the delegation of Government of Serbia.

BELGRADE - The Republican Commission for implementation of Referendum about foreign participation in solving problems in Kosovo, scheduled by the assembly of Serbia for Thursday April 23, announced the deadlines in relation with preparations and realisation of citizen's coming out with. The secretary of the Commission for implementation of Referendum in Serbia Nebojsa Rodic presented in Belgrade the ballot with referendum question "Do you accept the participation of foreign representatives in solving problem of Kosovo and Metohija?" At the press conference Rodic explained that citizens will show their will by encircling the offered answer with "yes" or "no". According to him, voting will be conducted on the same voting stations where they voted for the president of Republic in the December last year.

SARAJEVO - The president of National Assembly of Republika Srpska /RS/ Dragan Kalinic scheduled, on the basis of proposal of parliamentary parties, the special session of Serbian Parliament for Thursday, April 15 in Doboj with the beginning at 10,00. On the agenda, forwarded to SRNA, is anticipated that national delegates discuss about current political issues related to Additional decision of Arbitrage tribunal for the dispute about inter-entity boundary line in the area of Brcko, as well as the implementation and supervision of elections in RS and FB&H, scheduled for September. The third item of the Agenda is related to the current economic policy of Government of RS, with the particular review on international financial arrangements, and fourth foresees the discussion about the report on handing over the governance between old and new Government, republican administering organs, public state enterprises, public state funds and another republican organisations.

BANJA LUKA - The president in Presidency of B&H from RS Momcilo Krajisnik warned in an interview for Banja Luka radio "St. Georgije" that frequent arresting of Serbs could jeopardise the peace in B&H. "Although the international community and authorities of Federation B&H are declaratively for freedom of movement, Serbs are permanently the target of kidnappers under accusations that they, allegedly, committed war crimes, and that is nothing else but oppression and hindering the freedom of movement" - said the president Krajisnik. Commenting the yesterday's arresting of two Serbian army officers in Prijedor, Krajisnik warned that it is the "attack on peace" and expressed the fear that in coming period could happen uncontrolled resistance of serbs.

HAGUE - The representatives of the Hague Tribunal announced that arrested officers Miroslav Kvocka and Mladen Radic will have first appearance hearing before the court on Thursday April 14, before the judge Rodriguez of Trial Chamber I. Radic and Kvocka are the two out of 19 which the Tribunal has put on the list of indicted on February 13, 1995, with the regard to atrocities allegedly committed in 1992. According to the indictment, Kvocka shortly was a commander of the detention camp Omarska and afterwards the deputy commander, while Radic was one of the shift commanders.

PRISTINA - The last actions of the so called "Liberation Army of Kosovo" - in which in more places in Kosovo and Metohija were beaten Serbs and killed nine Albanians who did not enough cooperate with terrorists - have brought much unrest in the homes of remaining Serbs in this Southern Serbian province. In local police stations every day are coming few Serbs, individuals or families, and report about physical or armed attacks on local roads, and not rarely are happening night attacks on smaller hamlets.

NEW YORK - Israel in written form stated to Secretary General Kofi Annan that it will withdraw its troops from the South of Lebanon and by that fulfil 20 years old UN resolution on withdrawal from this territory - reports DPA. Before the withdrawal, however, in the letter is required undertaking "the appropriate security measures for protection of Israel", and the letter is immediately forwarded to the Security Council.

RIAD - At least 150 Moslem pilgrims were killed in the crowd, on the last day of pilgrimage, near Meka - report DPA according to the statements of Saudi officials. The Saudi press agency in the first reports stated that there was at least 107 killed persons, but now they are talking about 150 persons killed in the "stampede of pilgrims" in the field Mina, where the mass assembled for symbolic ritual "rocking the devil".

BUENOS AIRES - The president of Argentina Carlos Menem ordered to Argentina's police to arrest the former "ustasha" commander (Croatian) of the detention camp in Jasenovac Dinko Sakic - reports DPA. Menem explained, in the statement for Radio "National" that Sakic, who lives in Buenos Aires, for which police is trailing already two days, could be wanted by Israel;s court, because the victims of his terror were Jews also. On Tuesday Menem ordered to Argentina raise the indictment, in order to arrest Sakic in accordance with Argentina laws.

MOSTAR - In Drvar, in organisation of Office of High international Representative, UNHCR and SFOR, was performed the delivery of apartments which until now used the members of the Croatian Council of Defence, and mass organised return of Serbs past without any incident - reports the Croatian radio Herceg -Bosna. At the press conference was expressed the contentment because of this event and stressed that this is only one element of wider process.
