VACANCY FOR A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN THE AREA OF

DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS AND MULTIMEDIA

The Department of Computer Science of the University of Cyprus has a position for a Research Associate within the research project "Electronic Roads in the Information Society (ERIS)" funded by the University of Cyprus and other sources. The position is initially for one (1) year with a possibility for further extension. The annual salary for a Research Associate is at the A8 scale (about CY # 9,000 but the exact amount will depend on qualifications and prior experience). [At present CY #1 = 1.2 sterling and CY #1 = 1.9 US dollars, approximately.]

Project ERIS aims to develop and bring together studies from the areas of open and distributed (multimedia) systems and middleware platforms to provide a solid foundation for the technological building of electronic roads that can be used for cultural and historical exploration both in space and time. The underlying systems architecture will be based on the component-based paradigm.

A suitable candidate is expected to have a sufficiently specialised postgraduate degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited University with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Parallel and Distributed Systems, Middleware Platforms (e.g. CORBA), Multimedia Systems. Additional experience in Software Engineering, Coordination Models, Software Architectures or Configuration Languages will be considered an advantage.
