Postodoctoral position in Computational Biophysics at the University of Cyprus.

The Department of Natural Sciences of the University of Cyprus has an opening for a post-doctoral position in Computational Biophysics starting the latest by the Fall of 1997. The position is renewable on a yearly basis, up to a maximum duration of 4 years. The candidates should have received their Ph.D. degree before the beginning of the appointment.

The Biophysics group at the University of Cyprus consists of Assist. Prof. S. Skourtis and Lecturer G. Archontis. The research topics of interest in the group address the relationship between protein structure and function. They range from the study of mechanisms of protein-ligand recognition with atom-based calculations, to electronic structure calculations and structure-function interpretations of biological electron transfer mechanisms. Experience in both simulations and electronic structure calculations of biological systems is strongly recommended. The Department of Natural Sciences is highly interdisciplinary, with members of the faculty specializing in a wide variety of fields, including Field Theory, Statistical Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Laser Physics, Catalysis, Bioinorganic and Polymer Chemistry, and Molecular Biology.
