Dr. Eleni Glykatzi-Ahrweiler studied philosophy and history at the University of Athens and at the University of Sorbonne. She is a professor at Sorbonne, specializing in Byzantine history. In 1973-74 she came to Harvard as a visiting professor through Dumbarton Oaks and received an honorary degree from Harvard. She is a member of the Academy of Athens and president of the Delphi European Center. Among other honorary titles, Professor Glykatzi-Ahrweiler is president of the prestigious Georges Pompidou National Centre of Arts and Culture.
