Tension was recorded this morning outside the Holy Sepulture Exarchate in Athens when acting Exarch Archbishop Theophanis of Gerason attempted to enter the building and assume his new duties.

The Archbishop, accompanied by the legal representative of the Holy Synod Alexandros Likourezos, found the doors closed and with the help of a locksmith he was able to enter the building but he was unable to reach the halls he wanted.

Clergymen supporting former Patriarch Irenaeus of Jerusalem are inside the building and stated that they have locked many of the halls and will not allow anyone to enter.
