Mr. Papandreou stressed: "The alternative nowadays is between socialism and barbarism, according to Philosopher Kornilios Kastoriadis adding "neoliberalism is a model that failed".Antonaros Response to Papandreou News item: 16888 [02] Budget Debate ContinuesBebate on state budget 2009 continues for a second day while it will be concluded on Sunday with a roll call vote. In her speech PASOK deputy, Evi Hristofilopoulou stressed: "The new state budget indicates the government's intention to ruin the social state". Taking the stand, Culture Minister, Mihalis Liapis underlined the role of culture as vehicle for an exit from the social crisis.Specifically, Mr. Liapis said "We are called to debate on state budget 2009 under the weight of the sad incidents. He described the two large parties toned up confrontation as means to obscure reality. SYRIZA parliamentary spokesman, Fotis Koubelis stressed that the new state budget has no responses to the country's problems and blamed the government of using the global financial crisis as an alibi to contain the social state. "The combat of poverty and social inequalities is a matter of political orientation and specific economic policy" stressed Mr. Koubelis. LAOS deputy Polatidis said that his party will vote down the state budget because the ND government did not make a good manager and the economy can not proceed on the automatic pilot on the parameters set by Simitis government.
