Zimbabwes leaders signed a historic deal Monday that will see President Robert Mugabe share power with his arch-rival in a bid to resolve a ruinous political crisis in a country in economic meltdown.

However, South African President Thabo Mbeki, who brokered the deal, said later in the day that the unity government had not yet been finalised.

"Some discussions have already started about the constitution of this inclusive government, (but) they have not yet concluded," Mbeki said. "I am confident that they will do so as soon as possible."

Shortly after the signing ceremony in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, the 84-year-old Mugabe said he was "committed" to working with longtime rival Morgan Tsvangirai in the new government.

Pink Floyd founding member and keyboard player Richard Wright died Monday at the age of 65 after battling cancer, his spokesman said.

Wright wrote and sang several numbers from classic albums of the British progressive rock band, including "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here."

"The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness, that Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer," said the spokesman.

"The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

[03] EU still Sceptic over Serbia

    15 Σεπ 2008 19:39:00

    Sources: ANA-MPA

The 27-nation bloc failed to agree Monday to extent trade benefits to Serbia despite the positive issued by the chief UN war crimes prosecutor on Belgrades cooperation. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said he was almost convinced that the 27 Foreign Ministers would agree on the controversial issue at their next meeting on October. According to diplomats, the Netherlands kept insisting that Serbia should first arrest former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic, the main war crimes indictee still at large.
