The Italian national flying company "Alitalia" is at the verge of becoming bankrupt and is looking at offers for its buy out just before the announcement of the report of the last six months that is not expected to be positive

A meeting took place today in Milan on the issue where "Intesa Sanpaolo" bank interviewed possible buyers. What remains to see is how "ready" investors are to finance the operation of the companys rescue, sources in Milan say.

The investing company Equinox, Benetton as well as Riva, Aponte and Ligresti are included in the catalogue of the candidate buyers. The Italian state holds 49.9% of the sharing capital of the company. A late estimation shows that damages reach 400 million euros while this years "extension of life" would not have been possible if the state hadnt provided benefits that reached 300 million, taking as granted that only during the first semester damages reached 215 million. The potential buyers target at refreshing the crew of the company and obtaining 60 to 65% of the companys shares.
