The EU Commissioner for Health urged holidaymakers to step up extra sun care, as part of a campaign against skin cancer.

The message for this summer is crystal clear, apply intelligent sun care this summer to protect yourselves, said EU Commissioner for Health Androula Vasileiou, who advised parents to keep their children away from the sun.

The number of skin cancer cases in Britain has shot up since the early 80s, while more than 2,000 deaths per year are put down to this type of cancer. The surge in skin cancer cases urged Brussels to introduce harsher regulations on the labels of sunblocks, forbidding labels speaking of "100% sun protection."

    [02] Bush Gives Press Conference

US President George W. Bush on Tuesday said he rejects any "artificial" time table for withdrawing US troops from Iraq and reiterated that the decision must be made according to conditions on the ground. "Theres the temptation to let the politics at home get in the way with the considered judgment of the commanders. Thats why I strongly rejected an artificial timetable of withdrawal. Its kind of like an arbitrary thing, you know," Bush said. "The Iraqis have invited us to be there. But they share a goal with us, which is to get our combat troops out. As conditions permit." Bush added that "we are succeeding" in Iraq, and "our troops are coming home, based on success."

The US is "working on potential action" against the regime of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe after the UN Security Council failed to impose sanctions, President George W. Bush also said Tuesday.
