    The National Meteorological Service forecasts for today a fine weather in Attica and most parts of the country. Occasional cloud and local rain are possible in central and northern Greece in the afternoon hours. Winds moderate in the Ionian, turning strong in the Aegean. The temperature in Athens will range from 23 to 32C, at the islands from 22 to 29C and in Thessaloniki from 21 to 30C.

    [02] Simitis to announce proposals on political system

    After a cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Prime Minister Costas Simitis is expected to announce his proposal for the modernisation and the reforming of the political system.

    Among others to be proposed by Mr Simitis will be changes in the electoral system and stricter control and transparency rules.

    Mr Simitis will meet first today with PASOK Central Committee Secretary Michalis Chrysohoides and later with Finance Minister Nikos Christodoulakis, Culture Minister Evagelos Venizelos and others to discuss the Olympic Games finances.

    [03] Larko SA & others to undertake gold metallurgy

    Mining company Larko SA, a joint venture of Greek constructing companies and bodies of the society in Chalkidiki and with the participation of foreign investors will undertake the operation of the metallurgy of gold, according to TVX Hellas.

    A Memorandum of Cooperation is expected to be signed in the coming days by the Greek government and the parties involved, in which the conveyance terms will be clarified and the necessary procedure for the conveyance within a specific timetable will be put into effect.
