    Sunshine is forecast in all parts of the country, with a rise of temperature today and tomorrow. Winds northerly, light to moderate. The temperature in Athens and Thessaloniki will be 35C and at the islands 32C

    [02] EU-USA Summit to take place in Washington

    Tomorrow's EU-USA Summit in Washington signals a new era in Euro-American relations.

    Prime Minister Costas Simitis left this morning for Washington heading a European delegation.

    Tomorrow, the President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, together with the President-in-office of the European Council, Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis, will meet US President George W. Bush and discuss the Middle East issue.

    Then Mr Simitis will present the results of the EU Summit Meeting in Thessaloniki and focus on the EU Constitution draft plan and European Strategic Security.

    Other issues to be discussed will be Iraq, Afganistan the non-spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction, the combating of terrorism, transport safety, judicial cooperation, probably the 'Galileo' programme, as well as the issue of the International Criminal Court

    [03] 'Baltic Sky' cargo to be unloaded today

    Although mystery continues to cover the story of the freighter 'Baltic Sky' regarding the actual recipient of its cargo, the head of a Sudanese chemical firm has told the BBC the shipment of explosives impounded by the Greek authorities was destined for his company.

    Issam Bakri Khalifa, of the Integrated Chemicals and Development Company, said the consignment was intended for peaceful purposes and he has demanded it back.

    The Greek authorities from their side are expected to unload its dangerous cargo at Platigiali port in Etoloakarnania today.

    [04] Unemployment responsible for drug use

    In view of the World Day Against Narcotics on June 26th, a relevant research carried out by the Treatment Centre of Drug Users and presented at a Press Conference proves that seven out of ten drug users are unemployed or employed occasionally, while the prevalent drug substance used is heroine.

    Referring to the results of the research, the Vice President of the Treatment Centre of Drug Users Charalambos Pavlopoulos said that although the conclusions are cause concern, they show that the prevention services can prevent the drugs problem.
