Possibility of snowfall on mountains around the capital from late afternoon.(11/2/2003 12:16:00 μμ) [02] Four member crew of Augusta Bell ambulance missingA 4 member crew- the pilot, copilot, a doctor and a nurse- in an Augusta Bell ambulance helicopter are missing since 12.25 am today after the helicopter lost contact with the control tower 4 miles before landing at Icaria island. The helicopter had set out from Mitilini island to transfer a patient from Icaria to Samos.A C –130 air-force craft, a super Puma helicopter, patrol ships and other ships in the area are searching in the area . (11/2/2003 12:17:00 μμ) [03] EU President Greece calls on an emergency summit meetingPrime Minister Costas Simitis yesterday reconfirmed that Greece s EU presidency has taken the initiative to call an emergency European Union summit meeting in Brussels on Monday to discuss the Iraq crisis and developments in the Middle East.Simitis said that an informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers would be held in Brussels in the morning to prepare for the summit. Prime-minister Simitis underlined the importance of a common European policy , stressing that Greece s EU Presidency will make every effort to avert a war against Iraq. German chancellor said he would attend the meeting while it has not been confirmed yet whether British Prime-minister Tony Blair will attend the summit meeting. In the meantime an anti-war rally will be staged at Syntagma Square in Athens at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, organised by the General Confederation of Workers of Greece, the Civil Servants Union, the Athens Labour Centre, the Greek Social Forum and many other movements. Diplomatic circles have not ruled out the possibility of a new plan for the resolution of the Cyprus issue.In a relative development Greek and Turkish delegations will meet on February 17 to discuss security issues concerning Cyprus said Turkish Foreign Minister, Yiasar Yiakis In the meantime, in an interview yesterday with Greek state television channel NET, the leader of Turkey s ruling party, Tayip Erdogan ruled out a resolution of the Cyprus political problem could be reached till February 28 adding that a possible war against Iraq could influence developments in the Cyprus issue. Also, the stabilization of the fresh fruit and vegetable prices played a major role in the drop of the inflation rate.
