    [05] Inflation dropped in January

Inflation dropped to 3.1% in January 2003 compared to 3.4% in December 2002, according to the Greek National Statistics Agency.

The upward course of the single European currency operated as a counterbalance for the high oil prices which are still in US dollars in the international markets. Also, the stabilization of the fresh fruit and vegetable prices played a major role in the drop of the inflation rate.
