(2/2/2003 10:49:00 рм) [02] First ELA member arrestedThe police authorities arrested the head of the community of Tilos Agelatos Ganas yesterday after arriving in Athens and meeting with his lawyer. Mr Ganas is accused of being a member of the terrorist organisation ELA. He had come to Athens to meet with Public Order Minister Michalis Chrysohoides in order to protest for the involvement of his name in the issue of terrorism. His house in Athens being searched by the antiterrorist squad, while his house in Kimolos will be also searched.(2/2/2003 10:50:00 рм) [03] Seven die after Columbia explodesSpace shuttle Columbia exploded yesterday 16 minutes before landing at Kennedy centre. All seven crewmembers lost their lives, including the first Israeli cosmonaut. Their remains were located in a field in Texas.Meanwhile, the authorities called on civilians not touch the wreckage of the spacecraft, some of which may be highly toxic. Already, 30 people have been hospitalised because they came into contact with some of the spacecraft's pieces. Texas and Louisiana have been declared in a state of emergency so as the wreckage of the spacecraft are selected, while meteorologists have reported that a 160-metre long cloud with ash and metal fragments covered the two states. On a relative development, the Anglican archbishop of Canterbury described a war against Iraq unacceptable and stated that he was pressing the British Prime Minister to prevent the crisis. Meanwhile, according to the British newspaper Observer, the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and his officials' homes will be the first targets in the war against Iraq. In this way the Iraqi people will be convinced that the war is not against it but against the Iraqi regime, an official stated to the newspaper.
