[02] On expectation of Turkish-Cypriots and Greek-Cypriots' answers

The National Council is meeting in Nicosia tomorrow to decide which points of the Annan plan need to be negotiated on by the Greek-Cypriot side.

In tandem, deliberations are being held between the Turks and the Turkish-Cypriots.

The Turkish-Cypriots are expected to give their answers by Tuesday, while the Greek-Cypriot side is to answer by the beginning of next week.

Meanwhile, the President of the Hellenic Republic Constantinos Stephanopulos expressed his optimism on the positive resolution of the Cyprus issue and referred to the prospects of Cyprus' accession to the European Union in the present phase.

At the same time, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Central Democratic International being held in Corfu with the participation of the Spanish and Portuguese Prime Ministers and political party representatives from 35 countries, New Democracy party leader Costas Karamanlis reiterated yesterday that Cyprus' accession to the European Union must take place without any additional conditions.
