In Athens temperatures will range between 18 to 28 C and in Thessaloniki between 15 to 23 C.(13/9/2002 1:08:00 μμ) [02] First woman suspect of November 17 terrorist group arrestedAggeliki Sotiropoulou, the first woman suspect- linked to the urban guerrilla group ''November 17'' was arrested yesterday on charges of participation in a terrorist group, possesion and supply of explosives and compliance in the possesion of weapons.Sotiropoulou arrest warrant was issued after counter terror police found her fingerprints in an interior door at the organisation s hide out in Damareos St. Her lawyer said she has denied all charges against her, maintaining that all these serious charges against her could not be based only on the finding of fingerprints. In the meantime judicial authorities have rejected complaints about cramped detention conditions of the 16 November 17 suspects while Justice Minister, Filippos Petsalnikos reaffirmed that there was no distinction of rights and treatment with other prisoners and all procedures observe the law in effect. Speaking with Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou at the reception hosted by U.N Secretary General Kofi Anna ,American President , George Bush congratulated the Greek government for its achievements in the combat of terrorism . The American President also expressed satisfaction at Greece s policy in the Balcans describing it as the unifying factor in the area . In the meantime ,on the sidelines of the 57th U.N General Assembly, Mr. Papandreou had talks with his Turkish counterpart, Turgut Giurel and both agreed with installation of a red line between the two countries Defence Ministries to facilitate dealing in the event of crisis. The board of the Panhellenic Federation of Teaching Staff will meet on Sunday to officially suspend mobilisations.(13/9/2002 1:10:00 μμ) [04] Four-day mass boycott on fruit and vegetablesThe Ministry of Development has decided to set up an inter-ministerial committee to inspect fruit and vegetable prices after the recent price hikes.The Consummers Institute has called on shoppers to stage a boycott on fruit and vegetables next week –from September 16 to September 19 in protest against unreasonable price rises. In the meantime , the federation of produce farmers and open-market vendors is examining to launch an indefinite strike from October first maintaining that the rise in prices is due to a doubling in production cost and the impact of bad weather conditions on crops. In an interview with state radio NET, Trade undersecretary, Hristos Theodrou said that unreasonable price rises are noted in rural areas whereas in Athens prices have dropped by 38% during the last two weeks. (13/9/2002 1:11:00 μμ) [05] Olympic projects proceeding at a rapid pacePrime-minister Simitis yesterday visited the Olympic Weight-Lifting Centre currently under construction in Nikea, a suburb in southwestern Athens, and announced that the Athens metro would be extended to this area.Today Mr. Simitis will visit the Olympic Athletes Center which also house the Olympic Press and Radio- Television Centers .
