[04] In-depth investigations into domestic terrorism

Police investigations into domestic terrorism will be in –depth , government spokesman Hristos Protopappas said yesterday when asked to comment on some news reports hinting that the probe will remain at a superficial level. He described as stupid and dangerous various views appearing in media reports , which he said tried either to glorify the terrorists or to damage the political system.

Meanwhile , arrested November 17 suspect, Pavlos Serifis –according to reports- intends to recall part of his testimony involving his uncle Yiannis Serifis . His lawyer , however, refused to confirm the reports , stressing that his client s supplementary testimony will answer all questions.

In parallel the administration of the Evangelismos hospital has asked for evidence in relation to allegations that Savvas Xiros- the first November 17 suspect arrested when a bomb blew up in his hands two months ago- was under the influence of drugs when he was being interrogated by the police.

In the meantime, police are conducting investigations on possible links of Dimitris Koufontinas –who surrendered last week- on the island of Agistri in the Saronic Gulf where he had spent most of his two months on the run. The anti-terror police do not rule out that the might have hidden there the first typewriter of the organisation and the historic 45mm gun .
