    [01] Weather forecast

    Fair weather with a gradual decline in temperatures is forecast in most parts of the country today. Winds northwesterly, strong to very strong. In Attica temperatures will range from 19-30 degrees Celcius in Thessaloniki from 15-30 degrees Celcius and on the Aegean islands from 19-29 degrees Celcius.

    [02] Pasok Central Comittee approved the Executve office report on the social security system

    In his speech at the closing session of the Pasok Party Central Committee ,Prime-minister Simitis called on all productive forces of society to unite to cofront the supporters of neo-liberalism who react to the goverment's developmental and social policy.

    The Pasok Party Central Committee almost unanonimously approved the Executive Office report on the social security system after the inclusion of the 10 points, proposed by 63 Pasok Party deputies.

    On his part, National Defence Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos maintained that the goverment and the Pasok Party should overcome the rifts with society and the Left wing parties and proposed a new economic and social developmental model.

    [03] EU will set at 65 minimum age for pensions

    In an interview, published yesterday in the Sunday newspaper "Typos tis Kyriakis", Labour Minister Tasos Yianitsis said that the ruling Pasok party's proposals on pension fund reforms did not involve personal policies and insisted on the principle of protection for the goverment's work.

    Meanwhile, a decision by the European Court indicates that the minimum age for pensions in the European Union will be set at 65.

    [04] ND deputy, Dora Bakoyiani interested in standing for Athens Mayor

    New Democracy Party deputy, Dora Bakoyianni once again expressed interest in standing for Athens Mayor, stressing that, if elected, she would stay for the entire 4-year term.

    In the meantime, Eliza Vozemberg, press representative of the recently established political Party by the Athens Mayor, Dimitris Avramopoulos stressed that the party was normally proceeding to its autonomous course and described rumours about Dimitris Avramopoulos third term in office as "political fantasy scenarios".

    [05] Bill to legalise illegal immigrants in effect since June, 2

    As of tomorrow Tuesday, the about 400 thousad illegal immigrants living in Greece will be able to submit their applications for temporary residence permits. The new bill has been in effect since June 2nd.

    [06] Lower bases for admission to tertiary education this year

    Teachers believe that the base grade for admission to tertiary education will be lower this year due to the upgrading of Technological institutes which are expected to attract more students and the larger number of students to be admitted to tertiary education.

    [07] New draftbill to combat fuel smuggling

    Development Minister Nikos Hristodoulakis has proposed a new draftbill aimed to combat fuel smuggling and adulteration and tax evasion.

    [08] Pshychatrist, Lymberis brought before the public prosecutor

    Psychiatrist Petros Lybemris owner of the yacht "Therapy" as well as the captain of the yacht were today brought before the Public Prosecutor of the Island of Syros after the police found cocaine, hash and ecstasis and methadone tablets in the vessel.

    [09] Bloody long week-end

    Despite the special measures taken by the traffick police, 10 people died and 161 were injured in 143 road accidents during the long week-end.
