The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is currently working on proposals for the implementation of the agreed short-term measures regarding the Greek debt relief, Dennis Kolberg, the spokesman of German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, said in exclusive statements to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

"Eurogroup agreed on May 24 to take short-term measures for debt after the conclusion of the first programme review. The measures are listed in the agreement to which we refer. Among others, measures to ensure the current low interest rate for the long term are included. The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is currently working on proposals for the implementation of the agreed short-term measures," Kolberg said when asked about the report of Handelsblatt newspaper that the German Finance Ministry agrees on short-term measures for Greek debt relief.

Asked on the newspaper report for a possible teleconference of the German Finance Minister, eurozone Finance ministers, the IMF and the ECB on the debt relief, he did not deny it. "The Eurogroup will convene on December 5. However, we also exchange views outside the Eurogroup at different levels."

[02] First four articles of bill against discrimination at work voted in Parliament

The first four articles of the bill against discrimination at work on grounds of sex, sexual orientation, colour, race, nationality, religion etc. were voted in Parliament on Friday.

A roll call vote was held in the parliament plenary after a proposal of PASOK-Democratic Coalition, To Potami and independent deputies in order to reflect the diversification of Independent Greeks in Articles 1 to 4, which form a key part of the bill.

[03] Greece will get on growth track in 2017, Interior Min Skourletis estimates

The second review of the Greek programme will conclude and the country will get on growth track in 2017, Interior Minister Panos Skourletis estimated on Friday in statements to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency's radio Praktoreio 104.9FM.

Referring to the Turkish provocations, he said that these statements are not said by accident adding that Turkey is facing internal problems and has opened all the fronts. He underlined that Greece complies with the international treaties and the Lausanne Treaty is not on the table and estimated that Turkey is led to isolation (through Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's stance).

[04] Reduction in the average age of people affected by oral cancer

The reduction in the average age of people affected by oral cancer in the last 20 years has caused concern in the scientific community, as in the past the disease usually appeared in people over 40-year old, according to George Laskaris, Professor of Stomatology, University of Athens and Visiting Professor of London University.

Laskaris was speaking at a conference of the Public Health Institute of the American College of Greece on "Diseases of Oral Cavity: What you need to know."

As he explained "early diagnosis of oral cancer is the key to rapid successful treatment - prognosis - quality of life and survival of more than 90-95 pct."

According to scientists, cancer is the most dangerous of the 1,000 diseases that occur in the mouth. The key factors for the increase of oral cancer worldwide, including Greece, are smoking, alcohol, and possibly HPV viruses.

"Everyone should be aware and be able to recognize any changes made to his mouth and promptly seeking the opinion of a stomatologist," said Laskaris. The oral cancer is one of the 10 most common cancers in humans and 700 new cases are recorded every year in Greece.

Smoking, excessive alcohol use, damaged teeth or dentures that injure poor oral hygiene may be the reasons for the high incidence of mouth diseases.

Oral cancer occurs 6-8 times more often in smokers compared to people who never smoked. The increased rate is also related to the number of cigarettes and years someone smokes.

The main symptoms are: pain, bleeding, burning tongue, white or red colour, black spots, wound that does not close, difficulty in chewing and swallowing, swelling of the gums, swelling in the neck lymph nodes, stiffness, bad breath, dry mouth, etc.

For precaution scientists suggest good oral hygiene, avoidance or quitting of smoking, no excessive alcohol consumption, a visit to the dentist every six months, and stomatology advice when there are changes in the mouth.

Laskaris also stressed the importance of accurate and rapid diagnosis, which is a prerequisite for correct treatment and prognosis, protection of the patient from health adventures and unnecessary financial and emotional burden.

"The oral health is a valuable asset that we must and can preserve," said Laskaris and concluded: "This is because the mouth is the jewel of the human body, and relates to the most beautiful pleasures of life: the taste, the various expressions of love, love, speech and social presence."

[05] No refugees arrivals on Greek islands for fourth consecutive day

No migrants or refugees arrivals were recorded for fourth consecutive day on the islands of northern Aegean due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the area.

This gave the opportunity to the authorites to propel the procedures and to reduce the number of the stranded people on the islands.

11,520 people were recorded on Friday 2 December on the islands while on Sunday 27 November the number of stranded ones reached 11,801.
