[01] Enabling law clears Parliament hurdle(ANA-MPA) -- An implementation or enabling law linked with the Medium-Term Fiscal Strategy Programme was ratified, in principle, on Thursday in Parliament, with 155 deputies voting in favour to 136 against. Out of the 296 MPs present for the vote, five voted "present".The process concluded mostly along strict party lines, with main opposition New Democracy (ND) deputies voting against the law, in principle, for in favour of 21 out of 49 separate articles. The vote followed yesterday's vote in favour of the mid-term programme. "Allow me to be complete clearly. We agree, in principle, to three chapters of the draft bill, out of the total six, namely, we agree to the ones on privatisations, the transparency law and in reducing spending," ND rapporteur Costis Hatzidakis said. He echoed earlier statements by ND leader Antonis Samaras, who said from Parliament's podium that "if you (government) do not substantially change the direction of your policies, we will vote against any Memorandum II, regardless of whether you table it with 180, 250 or even with 300 votes necessary (to ratify the draft bill)..." The motion was brought against the union by PPC's management.According to a union representative, the ruling prohibits the repetition in the future of a strike with the same demands, a fact he terms as "unprecedented." The union representative indicated that an appeal will be filed. More details on the subscriber's page of ANA-MPA | Subscription request form [03] Greek bond market closing reportThe yield spread between the 10-year Greek and German benchmark bonds continued easing, although at a slow pace, in the domestic electronic secondary bond market on Thursday, with the spread falling to 13.14 pct form 13.28 pct on Wednesday. The Greek bond yielded 16.17 pct and the German Bund 3.03 pct.Turnover in the market was a thin 3.0 million euros, all sell orders, while the 10-year benchmark bond was the most heavily traded security with a turnover of 1.0 million euros. In interbank markets, interest rates moved slightly up, with the 12-month rate at 2.16 pct, the six-month rate at 1.78 pct, the three-month at 1.54 pct and the one-month rate was unchanged at 1.32 pct. © ANA-MPA SA. The composite index of the market rose 1.12 pct to end at 1,279.06 points, with turnover remaining a low 70.908 million euros.The Big Cap index rose 1.42 pct, the Mid Cap index ended 1.42 pct higher and the Small Cap index ended 0.31 pct up. ATEbank (9.68 pct), OTE (4.05 pct), OPAP (3.97 pct) and Ellaktor (3.35 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while MIG (3.12 pct) and Coca-Cola 3E (0.96 pct) were top losers. The Telecoms (4.05 pct), Travel (3.84 pct) and Utilities (2.40 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains of the day, while Media (4.88 pct) and Chemicals (1.14 pct) suffered losses. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 69 to 58 with another 52 issues remaining unchanged.
