DUBLIN - European Union ministers have been invited to meet in Brussels this
Thursday to discuss emergency humanitarian support for more than a million
refugees caught in fighting in Eastern Zaire, current EU president Ireland
said.

BRUSSELS - The European Union said a ceasefire must be declared in eastern
Zaire before more than a million refugees caught in the raging cross-border
conflict and facing potential catastrophe could be helped on a mass scale.

BRUSSELS - The European Commission is expected to paint a brighter economic
picture of the European Union in its autumn forecasts on Wednesday.
