[01] Cyprus accepts Convention on Elimination of Discrimination against
women
Cyprus's Charge d' Affairs to the United Nations Mr Giorgos Kasoulides
submitted on Wednesday 31 July 2002 the Republic's Instrument of Acceptance
for the amendment of article 20, paragraph 1 of the Convention on the
Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women, adopted in New
York on 18 December 1979.
[02] Cyprus hands over Chairmanship of UN Asian Group to India
During a meeting of the members of the UN Asian Group, on Wednesday 31 July
2002, Cyprus handed over the Chairmanship of the Group to India for the
month of August.
Cyprus held the presidency of the Group for the month of July and dealt
with such issues as Group members' candidacy to other UN bodies.
All the members of the Committee expressed their satisfaction with the
Cypriot presidency and thanked Cyprus for the excellent way in which it
lead the Group.
