[01] Government sends humanitarian aid to Yugoslavia

The Cyprus government will send humanitarian aid to the refugees of the Kosovo crisis, Government Spokesman Mr Costas Serezis announced yesterday. He said the humanitarian aid will include medicine, food and clothing.

Mr Serezis pointed out that the issue will be discussed in Athens today between Foreign Minister Ioannis Kassoulides and his Greek counterpart George Papandreou

"Due to its position and its involvement in the crisis, the Greek government will guide us on how to go about it ", the Spokesman said referring to the despatch of the aid.

[02] Cyprus - Romania to enhance trade co-operation

Cyprus companies have invested about 570 million dollars in Romania, Cyprus Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister Mr Nicos Rolandis said yesterday.Speaking to the press after a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Mr Radu Berceanou, Mr Rolandis stated that the two countries agreed to enhance their co-operation in the fields of commerce and industry.

Mr Rolandis also stressed that Cyprus' economy would greatly benefit from investments in Romania, noting that a large number of Cyprus companies are operating in Romania.

On his part, the Romanian Minister stressed that his country considers Cyprus an important country in the eastern Mediterranean, due to the heavy Cypriot investment there. He added that both countries maintain "very good and very close relations".
