At the end of today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, the
Government Spokesman stated inter alia that the meeting focused on the
review of the harmonization process with the acquis communautaire and
examined the harmonization programme on the basis of the documents and
the reports that were submitted by the Law Office and the Coordinator
for Harmonization, Mr Hadjidemetriou. Mr Chrysostomides made reference
to the obligations which would bind Cyprus once it became a full EU
member and said there were around 50 EU conventions which should be
ratified by the Government of Cyprus while adding that those bilateral
agreements not in line with the acquis communautaire should be
abrogated.
