[02] Eurostat: construction sector down by 0.9% in the Euro areaCNA - Athanasios Athanasiou - Belgium/Brussels 19/10/2016 16:16In August 2016 compared with July 2016, seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector decreased by 0.9% in the Euro area (EA19) and by 1.3% in the EU28, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In July 2016, production in construction grew by 1.5% in the Euro area and by 0.3% in the EU28. In August 2016 compared with August 2015, production in construction rose by 0.9% in the Euro area, while it fell by 0.5% in the EU28. The decrease of 0.9% in production in construction in the Euro area in August 2016, compared with July 2016, is due to building construction falling by 1.0% and civil engineering by 0.7%. In the EU28, the decrease of 1.3% is due to civil engineering falling by 1.5% and building construction by 1.2%.
