    The exploitation of natural gas in Cyprus is expected around the year 2020, Acting Government Spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos said on Tuesday.

    Papadopoulos said a government meeting on energy matters took place at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, adding that Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Yiorgos Lakkotrypis analysed the roadmap for the extraction and exploitation of the natural gas in Cyprus` exclusive economic zone.

    Asked if any deadlines were set, Papadopoulos said "the exploitation of natural gas is expected around 2020."

    [02] President receives COC Chairman

    President Nicos Anastasiades on Tuesday received the Chairman of the Cyprus Olympic Committee Ouranions Ioannides to whom he expressed his congratulations for Cyprus ranking third in the 15th GSSE, which were held in Luxemburg. According to an official statement, in a letter to the Cypriot athletes, which was given to the COC Chairman, the President stresses that amidst the difficult times the country is going through due to the economic crisis, the third place in the GSSE, with 28 gold medals, 29 silver and 3 bronze medals, is really a huge success.

    The President expresses his congratulations to all the athletes and the members of the Cyprus delegation stressing that their success is an honor for the country.
