[01] More than 90 m. euro spent on the environment in 2010
The total expenditure for environmental protection activities in the
public sector in 2010 is estimated at €94,2 million, which corresponds
to 0,54% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), announced the Statistical
Service of the Republic.
The biggest amounts of expenditures were undertaken by the Forests
Department, the Water Development Department and the Ministry of Interior.
According to the results of a survey carried out by the Service, the share
of the GDP of Cyprus devoted to environmental protection activities is
lower than the average of the member-states of the European Union (0,7%).
