[01] Cyprus EU Presidency contributed to EU budget deal
Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU has contributed significantly
towards the agreement reached today among the EU leaders on the seven-year
EU budget after more than 24 hours of negotiation.
The agreement, which determines EU spending over the seven-year period
2014-2020, set a ceiling of 960 billion euros for appropriations. It will
now be submitted to the European Parliament for final approval. Cyprus
EU Presidency's contribution was acknowledged by both European partners
and the European Commission and the President of the European Council.
[02] Cyprus Parliament to host Meeting of the Directors General of
EU Parliaments
House of Representatives will host on 10 - 11 February 2013, the Meeting
of the Directors General of EU Parliaments as part of its obligations
arising from the parliamentary dimension of the recently completed
Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The main issue to be discussed at the meeting, chaired by the Deputy
Director General of the House of Representatives, Socrates Socratous,
will be the EU Speakers Conference to be held in Nicosia, between 21
and 23 April 2013.
