    Hungarian Minister of Defense Csaba Hende has assured that his country will continue supporting Cyprus and that for this reason it will continue being a troop contributor to the UN Peacekeeping Force of Cyprus, (UNFICYP).

    Hende, held Sunday a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Costas Papacostas, in the coastal town of Larnaka, with the participation of the chiefs of military forces of both countries.After the meeting, he said that he was informed by his Cypriot counterpart about issues he was not aware of before, adding that Hungary will always support Cyprus and that Hungarian peacekeepers of UNFICYP will stay in Cyprus.

    The Cypriot Minister thanked his counterpart for Hungarys contribution to peace in Cyprus through the UNFICYP, saying that maintaining 84 soldiers in Cyprus shows Hungarys interest for peace. The people of Cyprus, he went on to say, are grateful to Hungary for its contribution, noting the excellent relations and cooperation between the two countries.
