[01] GOVERNMENT - SEPTEMBER 5 MEETINGGovernment Spokesman Vassilis Palmas has said that Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat has agreed to discuss ways to move forward a UN-brokered agreement, during his meeting with President Tassos Papadopoulos on September 5.Palmas noted that in Talat`s reply letter to President Papadopoulos invitation to meet ``there is a proposal that concerns the July 8 agreement of last year, as well as other issues.`` He added that the Greek Cypriot side`s position was that the meeting should have a specific agenda ``and this agenda is the July 8 agreement.`` The Spokesman said that until September 5, there will be no other meeting between the representatives of the leaders of the two communities Tasos Tzionis and Rashit Pertev, who have been holding regular meetings since the agreement was clinched. Palmas pointed out that during the September 5 meeting, if both leaders wish to raise other issues, they will be able to do so. [02] CYPRUS - GREECE - VILLAGEA five-member ministerial committee will deal with all the practical issues deriving from the government`s decision to undertake the cost of rebuilding Artemida village in Peloponnesus, Greece, which has suffered extensive damage during the recent fires that caused devastation across the country.The committee, the formation of which was decided during Wednesday`s Council of Ministers meeting, will comprise the Ministers of the Interior, Finance, Justice and Public Order, Communications and Works, and Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment. Government Spokesman Vassilis Palmas said on Thursday that the government will proceed immediately to undertake the rebuilding of the village and ``within the next few days we will be able to announce the practical ways of implementing this effort, in cooperation with the Greek government.`` [03] ITALIAN MP - CYPRUSItalian MP and former President of the European Green Party Arnold Cassola has said that all Europeans look forward to a united Cyprus, in which the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots will be able to live and work together.Speaking at a press conference organised by Cyprus` Green Party, Cassola said the September 5 meeting between President Tassos Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat was a significant development, noting that it was important for progress to be achieved in the talks, because it was ironic for ``Cyprus to speak with two voices`` when in the EU efforts were being made for a single voice. [04] ISSF - SHOOTING GAMESGeneral Secretary of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Horst Schreiber has expressed satisfaction over the new world record of country participation in the World Shooting Championships 2007, to take place in Cyprus from September 1 to 10.Schreiber said that during his stay on the island he determined that Cyprus will host excellent games. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, organised by the Cyprus Shooting Federation, Schreiber said he did not expect such a turnout for the games and noted that ISSF is very satisfied with the registrations.
