Government Spokesman Vasilis Palmas told reporters after the cabinet meeting Wednesday afternoon that the village of Artemida in Peloponnesus was the choice for reconstruction following consultations with the Greek government.

He also conveyed the governments appeal that all money collected to be deposited in the accounts which the government of Cyprus has opened, so that after Artemida is reconstructed, we can try to reconstruct one more village.

Asked which is the second village that will be reconstructed, the Spokesman said that his Greek counterpart mentioned three villages which suffered the most damage. However, he said, if the money required to reconstruct a second village is collected, then the government will contact the Greek government to proceed with its pledge.

[02] SPOKESMAN - TURKISH POLICY

Government Spokesman Vasilis Palmas, invited to comment on Abdullah Guls election to the Turkish presidency, said that it would be good to see in practice his approach and political will as far as the Cyprus problem is concerned.

Asked if the government believes that there will be a change in the Turkish policy so that there can be some progress on Cyprus, Palmas said that this will become evident in practice after Mr. Gul undertakes the presidency of Turkey, but also from the Turkish leadership in general, whether there will be any development making them to approach issues in a more positive manner.
