AHI points out Turkish obligations vis -a-vis Cyprus in view of US aid to Turkey

Nicosia, Apr 16 (CNA) -- The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) has asked that the immediate removal of Turkish occupying troops from Cyprus and the prompt return to Turkey of Turkish settlers from Cyprus are among the conditions set out for Turkey in a bill before the US House providing for the allocation of 10 million dollars aid to Turkey.

According to an AHI press release, in a testimony before the US House Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, Financing and Related Programs, AHI Executive Director Nick Larigakis also opposed the allocation of 20 million dollar aid to Cyprus, as ''the project services proposed do not serve the US goal for reunification'' of the island.

    Cypriot police arrests French Nationals

Nicosia, Apr 16 (CNA)--Cypriot police arrested yesterday Albert Jerome, 26, from France after receiving a Europol and an Interpol arrest warrant. Jerome is a suspect in connection with an armed robbery in France three years ago which resulted the death of one person.

The police also arrested yesterday, Krystof Etori, 27 from France, a football player of AEK Kition Club in Cyprus, his 32 year-old wife and his sister who is Jerome's friend. They were arrested after a police search at Etori's house at the coastal town of Larnanca, where the police found clothes and shoes believed to be bought from Limassol with fake credit cards, as well as 11.821 Cyprus pounds, believed to have been stolen from ATM machines using fake credit cards.

The Larnaca District Court decided today that Jerom will remain in custody until April 25, when the Court will examine a French Police Authorities request for his extradition in France.

Meanwhile the Limassol Distric Court remanded today Etori, his wife and his sister for eight days in custody.
