    Nicosia, Apr 4 (CNA) -- Cyprus and the US will continue this week their dialogue on efforts to restrict the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Apr 4 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    On Tuesday (April 5), the weather will be mainly fine with some cloud at times. Winds will blow variable gentle 2 to 3 BF and during the afternoon gentle to moderate sea breezes 3 to 4 BF. The sea will be slight.

    On Wednesday (April 6), the weather will be mainly fine with some cloud at times. Winds will blow northeasterly to southeasterly gentle to moderate 3 to 4 BF. The sea will be slight locally moderate.

    Temperatures will reach a maximum of 19 degrees Centigrade inland and west coasts, 21 over south and east coasts and 10 over Prodromos. On Wednesday there will be further increase of 3 to 4 degrees. Minimum temperatures will be 8 degrees Centigrade inland, 10 over coasts and 4 over Prodromos. Further increase of 2 to 3 degrees will be on Wednesday.

    On Thursday (April 7), the weather will be mainly fine with some clouds at times.

    On Friday (April 8), the weather will be cloudy at times with probability of light local rain. Temperature are expected to fall.

    Cyprus President to attend Pope's funeral

    Nicosia, Apr 4 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos will attend the funeral of the late Pope John Paul II, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides announced here Monday, adding that Papadopoulos has sent his condolences to the Vatican expressing deep sympathy for the death of the Pontiff and paying tribute to the man who fought for world peace and understanding among the peoples and the religions of the world.

    ''The death of Pope John Paul II is a great loss not only for the Catholic Church but also for the entire humanity,'' President Papadopoulos said, as he signed earlier today the book of condolences at the church of the Holy Cross in Nicosia.

    Papadopoulos said that the late Pope promoted through his work and teachings world peace, mutual understanding among the peoples and the religions of the world and love for the poor, respect for human rights and Christian love.

    Nicosia, Apr 4 (CNA) -- Cyprus House of Representatives President Demitris Christofias has signed earlier today the book of condolences for Pope John Paul II at the church of the Holy Cross in Nicosia.

    ''The House of Representatives shares the deep grief of the Cypriot and the Catholics everywhere in the world for the loss of Pope John Paul II who was not only a spiritual leader but also a personality of international significance'', Christofias noted.
