2004 Cyprus Rally starts

Nicosia, May 14 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Rally 2004 started last night in Limassol with a total of 38 cars participating and 18 special stages, covering a distance of 1,136 kilometres. The Cyprus Rally is an official round of the World Rally Championship for the 2004 season.

After the ceremonial start on Thursday evening on the Promenade in Limassol, competitive action began this morning with the first of six timed stages in leg one.

Washington, 14 May (CNA) -- US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Marc Grossman has assured the US will continue its efforts for a just, fair and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem.

Speaking prior to a dinner on the occasion of the 15th annual International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA)/World Council of Hellenes (SAE) Cyprus conference, Grossman said ''there is a vision'' for Cyprus ''that can be achieved.''
