    New Rector & Vice-Rectors of the University of Cyprus elected Nicosia, Oct 14 (CNA) Professor at the Public and Business Administration Department, Stavros Zenios was elected new Rector of the University of Cyprus here Monday, replacing Nicolas Papamichael who resigned in June.

    He garnered 124 votes and his opponent, Andreas Demetriou, who was Vice-Rector 115. Professor, Dean, School of Pure Applied Sciences Elpida Keravnou Papailiou was elected Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Professor Christos Schizas was elected Vice-Rector for Economic International Relations and Management. Both vice-rectors come from the Department of Computer Science.

    The new Rector stated that the University feels proud because it has completed a democratic procedure with a high sense of duty to the whole community... Zenios further said the elections project the message to the Cypriot community that the University is vigorously entering its second decade.
