[01] Minister of Agriculture - Brussels - EU - Environment
Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) -- Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and
Environment Costas Themistocleous left today for Brussels to take part in a
meeting of the Ministers of Environment of the European Union (EU) member
states and their counterparts from candidate countries, on issues relating
to the protection of the environment.
The meeting, to be held on March 8, will also address issues relating to
the climate changes and the ministers will discuss and approve the EU's
Final Action Plan for the Protection of the Environment.

[02] Finance Minister - Fiscal programme
Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) --Finance Minister Takis Klerides said the
government's fiscal programme has been successful so far but warned against
complacency about the economic prospects.
He said already the government is working on a revised fiscal programme
with a view to balance the public finances by the year 2004, adding that
public debt has dropped to 59,8 per cent of the gross domestic product
(GDP).

[03] Cyprus - Belarus - Road transport Agreement
Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Belarus signed here today an Agreement
in International Road Transport which provides for the transport of
passengers and goods within the boundaries of the two states and the
setting up of a Joint Committee for the implementation of the Agreement.
The Agreement was signed by Cyprus' Minister of Communications and Works
Averof Neophytou and Belarus' Minister of Transport and Communications
Alyaksandr Lukashou who arrived here on Saturday on a four-day visit at the
invitation of his Cypriot counterpart.

[04] Popular Bank Group - 2000 results
Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) -- Operating profits of the Popular Bank Group reached
83 million Cyprus pounds in 2000, recording an increase of 39,4 percent,
its Executive Chairman Kikis Lazarides announced here today, adding that
after tax profits rose to 45,8 m. compared with 29,1 m. in 1999, rising by
57,7 percent.
Speaking at a press conference for the Group's results, Lazarides said
assets reached 4,1 billion and deposits increased by 17,5 percent ,
reaching 3,5 billion.
