[01] Radiomarathon - Over a million pounds collected
Nicosia, Nov 8 (CNA) -- Over one million three thousand Cyprus pounds were
collected during the two-day 11th Radiomarathon for children with special
needs, that ended midnight, though organisers expect the amount to increase
after all donations from Cyprus and abroad are counted. (One pound trades
at about 1,5 US dollars)
One million 100 thousand pounds were raised during last year's event,
organised by the state-run Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and the Popular
Bank and backed by organisations and other media in Cyprus, Greece, the UK
and other countries where large numbers of Greek Cypriots and Greeks live.

[02] UN envoy - US elections - Cyprus question
By Maria Myles Geneva, Nov 8 (CNA) -- UN Secretary-General's Special
Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro de Soto does not believe the outcome of the US
election is likely to have any bearing on the rhythm of the UN-led
proximity talks.
He also thinks the UN will continue to enjoy the continuous support of the
US and the other members of the Security Council.
