London, Aug 27 (CNA) -- House President Spyros Kyprianou leaves for New
York today from London to attend the Conference of Presiding Officers of
National Parliaments, to be held between August 30 to 1 September.
During his six-day visit to London, Kyprianou held meetings with Greek
Cypriot community leaders, parliamentarians and British government
officials.

Paphos, Aug 27 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides has called on the
international community to exert effective influence in order to pave the
road for substantive negotiations for a Cyprus solution within the
framework of UN resolutions.
The President, noting the continuing intransigent positions of the Turkish
side, stressed that the Greek Cypriot side is determined to carry on
working for a settlement, convinced that sooner or later the struggle for
freedom and justice will yield results.

Larnaca, Aug 27 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides is sending a message to
leaders attending a meeting of the European Popular Party, in Poland,
outlining recent developments in the Cyprus peace effort and stressing the
need to make the most of the conclusions of European Union decisions
relating to Cyprus and Turkey.
The message is to be conveyed by the leader of the ruling Democratic Rally
party (DISY) Nicos Anastasiades, who left for Poland today to attend the
meeting.
