    [05] Cyprus government - COE - Turkey

    by Maria Myles

Geneva, Feb 2 (CNA) -- The government of Cyprus has sent letters to the permanent representatives of the member-states of the Council of Europe (COE) pointing out the need for Turkey to comply with the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in a case of human rights violations of a Greek Cypriot woman relating to her property in the Turkish occupied north of Cyprus.

The letter, sent earlier this week, notes that irrespective of the fact that UN-led proximity talks are currently underway with a view to reach an overall settlement, Ankara must comply with the Court ruling in the Titina Loizidou case. CNA/MM/EC/2000
