    [01] Lyssarides - US Ambassador

Nicosia, Sep 22 (CNA) -- The US believes that the procedure that will be adopted in the Cyprus peace talks is immaterial, but what counts is the substance of the negotiations, US Ambassador in Nicosia Donald Bandler has said, echoing the view expressed by Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.

Speaking to the press after meeting here today Socialist EDEK party leader Vassos Lyssarides, Bandler said Washington is hopeful talks will take place in the near future, an issue which will be at the core of today's meeting between President Glafcos Clerides and US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in New York.
