[01] Cyprus, Greece sign athletic agreement

Nicosia, Feb 24 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Greece have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of sports.

The agreement was signed Monday in Athens by Demos Georgiades, President of the Cyprus Sport Organisation, and Andreas Fouras, Greek Under- Secretary for Sports, at the end of talks between the two delegations.

It provides for cooperation and athletic exchanges in 20 events as well as scientific exchanges in issues relating to training and organisation.

The agreement also envisages athletic events with the participation of athletes with special needs from the two countries.

[02] Cypriot deputy in group for Albania

Nicosia, Feb 24 (CNA) -- A Cypriot deputy has been appointed to the International Advisory Group for Albania to help the country's effort for democratisation.

Marcos Kyprianou, of the Democratic party, who heads the Cypriot delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OASE), was appointed to the Group after a meeting of the Assembly Standing Committee in Vienna earlier this month.

The Committee met on 19-20 February and decided to participate in the Advisory Group to help Albania restore and consolidate stability, democracy and the rule of law.

The Group will assist in the preparation of a constitution and will mediate for the return of the Democratic Party of Sali Berisha to Parliament.
