NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The president of the Dayton B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, talked in Pale with OSCE Mission chief, Robert Frowick, about the implementation of the Dayton agreement, particularly the implementation of municipal elections. Forwick said a stress would be put on administrative and essential issues concerning the planning of municipal elections. The date of elections has not been determined yet, but the OSCE chief for the Dayton B-H expressed his belief that they would be scheduled for the beginning of summer.

BEOGRAD - The health condition of the former vice-president of Republika Srpska (RS), NIkola Koljevic, is still critical, announced the Information Service of the Military-Medical Academy in Belgrade.

BANJALUKA - The RS minister of religion, Dragan Davidovic and his assistant Jovo Turanjin, talked in Banjaluka with Cardinal and Archbishop of the Vrhbosnian Bishopry, Vinko Puljic about position and activities of the Catholic Church in RS.

BEOGRAD - Members of the Committee for data collection on crimes against humanity and international law, presented, at a press conference in Belgrade, the eighth report of the Federal Government on war crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia. While presenting the summary report, the member of the Committee, Ilija Simic, announced that "crimes against Serb refugees from the Republic of the Srpska Krajina, when the Croatian Army brutally attacked columns of 230,000 to 250,000 people and Croatian encroach into 'abandoned places', are recounted thoroughly in 260 pages of the five-chapter report". "The second part of the report relates to the area of Visegrad, where we explained how the Muslims had prepared the war in the E RS and who and from where had armed them", explained Simic.

BANJALUKA - On 21 of January, at 900hrs, the Council of the Main Court in Banjaluka, will continue trial in absentia to Alija Izetbegovic, member of the Dayton B-H Presidency.

BEOGRAD - The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) will extend its cooperation with the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) in RS because of relevant programme compatibility and similarities in respect of nation's future. This is one of the main points of the Declaration on principles of domestic and foreign policy, adopted by the DSS Main Board.

AMSTERDAM - The Hague Tribunal is in a very difficult financial and stuff crisis at present, which burdens the work of this institution, complained the prosecutor of the Tribunal, Louise Arbour, in Holland, before her visit to Pale, Belgrade, Zagreb and Sarajevo. "The international community says it is always ready to support to the court, but when finances or new assistants are on the agenda, everyone become silent", admitted Louise Arbor.

ATHENS - The Greek media assess that two-month mass demonstration of the supporters of the Coalition "Together" and students in Belgrade showed that the people's will must be respected. The Greek TV believes that the events in Belgrade are unfolding according to a well-though screenplay.

DOBOJ - The Doboj-based Association of Families of Missing and Imprisoned Persons, sent a letter to the ICRC and high representative, Carl Bildt, demanding more effectiveness in their work on release of prisoners and tracking for missing persons.
